Possible Prom Rejection

You know … I should never try to be cute again! I went to my guy friends opening performance of his schools musical last night and I had been planning for a week and a half about to ask him to prom afterwards. I was going to give him a flower and tie a note to it that said “prom?”. I hadn’t been too nervous about until the day of the performance. I went and saw the musical and it was good, I enjoyed it. after it was over i went to see him and he came up to me and asked me if i liked it? if it was great? I said yes it was awesome and funny. I then procedded to give him the flower, I said this is for you, he said “Awe thank you” and i’m guessing he didn’t see the note but i told him im like “you have to look at the note” he was like “oh okay” he opened it and smiled then he hugged me. at this point i thought for sure that he would say yes. but then he was like ” I have alot of things on my mind right now i have 3 more shows this weekend and i forgot my homework in my locker which i can’t get to…” and he continued to talk about he couldnt get to his locker and his homework. I said “oh man that sucks”. then he said “well i have to go change now but thanks for coming and il text you later”… I stood there a minute and i’m like ummm okay? so i just left. As i was driving home my whole body was still shaking, i don’t know if it was because i was nervous to ask him or nervous about what he was going to say or if i was just really upset that he didn’t even give me an answer or that he had to think about it, when he said that he was thinking about asking me. This morning he had texted me and said ”I need another night to sleep on prom”, which i took as that he needed another night to think about going to prom with me. I don’t know how to handle this or really take it… should i just wait till he gives me a for sure answer? or just take it as that he said no and rejected me. I honestly dont know what i can do at this point.
